“Biodata.pt” – The team in charge of the development and maintenance of the CorkOakDB;
“CorkOakDB”– The service provided;
“User(s)” – Anyone using the services provided by CorkOakDB, exercising rights under these Terms of Service;
“Data” – Genome sequences, gene expression counts, and metadata related to Cork Oak that can be downloaded or explored through the website;
“User Information” – Personal information of an end-user including name, emails, and other personal data related to the use of CorkOakDB (IP, timestamps, location, etc.).
2. Online Services
The CorkOakDB is designed for independent use by external users.
The Biodata.pt team will make all reasonable efforts to maintain continuity of this Service and provide adequate warning of any changes or discontinuities. However, the team accepts no responsibility for the consequences of any temporary or permanent discontinuity in service.
Users may not copy, reproduce, republish, post, broadcast, transmit, or adapt, in full or in substantial part, the CorkOakDB Content, in any way that would unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests or compete with CorkOakDB.
Help desk support for CorkOakDB services is free and made available via the ‘Contact us’ page. Support is provided in Portuguese and English only. The developing team will strive to answer any relevant query, but it has no obligation to provide any support in the use of the Service.
Users agree that these Terms of Service and their use of the Service are governed under Portuguese law.
3. Data Services
The online data services and databases of CorkOakDB are publicly available and were mostly generated from data contributed by the community who remain the data owners for which due credit is provided.
There are no additional restrictions on the use or redistribution of the data available via its online services other than those provided by the original data owners.
While the authors make every effort to present accurate and reliable information on this web site, Biodata.pt do not certify such information, nor do they guarantee the accuracy, completeness, efficacy, timeliness, or correct sequencing of such information. The use of such information is voluntary, and reliance on it should only be undertaken after an independent review of its accuracy, completeness, efficacy, and timeliness.
Biodata.pt assumes no responsibility for results from the use of the information herein, or from use of the information obtained at linked Internet addresses, or in any respect for the content of such information, including (but not limited to) errors or omissions, the accuracy or reasonableness of factual or scientific assumptions, studies or conclusions, ownership of copyright or other intellectual property rights, and the violation of property, privacy, or personal rights of others. 4. Privacy Statement
The service is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
By using CorkOakDB, users agree to have user information processed by Biodata.pt, as described below:
- User information is stored at host servers based in Oeiras, Portugal. All common security protocols are followed, and only the minimum amount of information is stored.
- By accessing CorkOakDB, the user(s) agree that user information is collected by Google Analytics. User information can be used to monitor user traffic on CorkOakDB, being limited to the number of visits and country of origin.
We will not use user information for marketing purposes, nor will user data be shared with outside partners for marketing purposes.
5. User Rights
Users are entitled to:
- The right to access the tools and data available in CorkOakDB, to retrieve information directly related to the user’s interest.
- The right to request that any incorrect information displayed in CorkOakDB is corrected, based on complete and clear reasoning.
- The right to request a complete deletion of the user’s login information from CorkOakDB.
The exercise of any of these rights can be requested using the provided platforms.
